System Requirements

 

The minimum system requirements to view the content of the Mining, Environment and Development CD-Rom are:

1. A computer with minimum 486/66MHz processor or equivalent (Pentium processor or equivalent recommended); a Windows 3.1/95/98/ME/2000/XP, Macintosh or Unix operating system; 16MB RAM (32MB RAM for Windows NT/2000/XP); a monitor displaying 256 colours and 640x480 pixel resolution; and a 2X CD-Rom drive.

2. A Javascript-enabled web browser (Netscape Navigator®‚ 3.0+, Microsoft Internet Explorer®‚ 3.0+) running on a supported operating system Windows, Macintosh or Unix. Installers for Windows and Macintosh versions of Internet Explorer®‚ are included on the CD-Rom. Please see below to install the necessary software.

3. Most of the documents on this CD-Rom are provided in Adobe PDF format. To view these documents you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader® software installed on your computer. Installers for the Windows version are included on the CD-Rom. Please see below to install the necessary software.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

For Windows:

1. Click here to launch the Microsoft Internet Explorer® 6 installer.

2. Follow the instructions displayed during the installation process.

 

For Macintosh OSX:

1. Click here to launch the Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.2.2 installer.

2. Follow the instructions displayed during the installation process.

 

For Macintosh OS8.1 to OS9.x:

1. Click here to launch the Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.1.6 installer.

2. Follow the instructions displayed during the installation process.

 


Adobe Acrobat Reader® 5.1

The Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 English language version is provided on this CD-Rom. For other language versions and operating systems please visit the Adobe website: [http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html].

For Windows:

1. Click here to launch the Adobe Acrobat Reader® 5.1 installer.

2. Follow the instructions displayed during the installation process.

If you experience problems launching the installer using the above an alternative approach is to copy the file:

D:\software\reader\windows\AcroReader51_ENU.exe

(change "D" to whatever letter corresponds to your computer CD-Rom drive) to your hard disk drive then double click on the file to launch the installation process.

For Macintosh:

Acrobat Reader for Macintosh uses a Web-based installer that allows you to select the components you wish to download. This needs to be installed from the Adobe website: [http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html].

Problems

 

Problems viewing the Adobe PDF documents

Some users may experience errors when trying to view the Adobe PDF files within a web browser window. There is currently no method of resolving this problem with the browser window. If this occurs, right click on the link to the PDF and save the file to your hard disk, then open the PDF file in the Adobe Acrobat Reader® software.
