The Economic Forum is organised once a year in which dignitaries are invited to take part as guest speakers. The ultimate goal is to discuss topics of vital importance on the continent and it is destined for as large a public as university scholars, officials of the International organisations, business executives as well as the diplomatic corps. The aim is to identify problems through real dialogue among the various economic, social and political actors involved in the development process of the continent. Indeed, often considered less competitive and under-developed, African countries are, since their independence, confronted with a number of problems due essentially to political instability unfavourable to any foreign investment. This process of underdevelopment is also the result of lack of communication, of the ignorance towards the African traditions, of a social culture not adapted to the modern western management techniques, as well as an academic and a professional system of training that have never taken into account the real needs of the African societies.

In order to contribute in the search of solutions to these problems, the African Research and Management Training Centre (CARFMAN) was established in 1993 with the aim of promoting a concept of management suitable to the specific social, political, economic, and cultural characteristics of African societies. It carries the triple duties of research, training and service to entrepreneurship, enterprise creation and development.
