The MRF Africa is a section of the Mineral Resources Forum (MRF) that focuses on development, social, environmental and other issues relevant to mineral resources in Africa.

Some of these issues are examined from a global perspective in other sections of the MRF.

Whats New
A workshop on the establishment of an Africa Mining Network, jointly organised by the UN ECA and UNCTAD was held in Addis Adaba from 25-27 February 2003. The workshop agenda and network proposal are available.

A Report and Vision Statement are available from the UNECA and UNDESA seminar on "Artisanal and Small-scale Mining in Africa: Identifying Best Practices and Building the Sustainable Livelihoods of Communities" held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 19-22 November 2002.

A Joint Seminar on "Management of Mineral Wealth and the Role of Mineral Wealth in Socio-economic Development" by the UN ECA, UN DESA and UNCTAD was held in Lusaka, Zambia from 13-15 August 2002. The seminar presentations are now available for download.
