The NITF Was Formed At A Public & Open Conference Convened By The Centre for Development of Information & Technology Policy (CDITP), Johannesburg, South Africa During November 1995.
The mission of the National Information Technology Forum is to offer policy option proposals that would ensure the socio-economic development of all the people of South Africa through universal availability of access to information technology resources, as well as the economic development of the country through a well developed, technologically sound and appropriate national information infrastructure and technology support base. Such a policy should ensure that South Africa strives to become an important component of the global information technology environment, capable of participating effectively internationally to both extend and support the socio-economic objectives of the country as a whole and to develop its own information technology industry and dependent industries into globally competitive resources.
The NITF operates an official mailing list for interaction between working group members, interested persons and inquiries.
